My “backyard” is a veritable smorgasbord of irresistible and inexpensive fruit; a home canner’s dream. That’s what I find myself doing in all of my spare time (both hours of them), pretty much every night… hovering over my boiling-water canner and swatting away fruit flies! Because Hood River is an unbelievably beautiful and fruitful place to live, I find myself host to so many great friends who drive up here from the city to visit and partake in the bounty. And of course, no trip to Hood River is complete in the summer and fall without a trip to the best orchard of all time, Mt. View Orchards (I am definitely not joking about it being the best orchard of all time… don’t believe me? Go check it out!).
This week my sister and her lovely family came up to pick with me and we decided to take full advantange of the rain-less weather and the picturesque backdrop. Hope you enjoy the photos from this morning of shananagans. Sorry there are no pictures of the fruit… once I get to picking, I put my serious face on and forget my camera ever existed! I promise to post some later to entice you!
